- Health Related Activities
- Pulse Polio mobilization & Routine
immunization.
We have reached almost end
stage of this programme. Our state, West Bengal
has achieved a very good result of this
programme. Actually very coordinating approach
at all strata fine - tuned plan micro conforming
situation and single minded devotion are the
factors behind this glorious achievement. In
this approach, interventions social voluntary
organzations are also remarkable. NGOs play
pivotal role in Polio Eradication Programme.
They always plan to enrich their mobilization
part. Definitely, this social mobilization part
corroborates the technical part with innovative
ideas. Social mobilization is empowered by wide
ranging activities; from grass root level
meeting to high level mass communication, from
rally to CD show. special immunization to health
checking Camp, house to house campaign to IPC
with IPPI card. Even our NGOs intervention has
been very fulfill which is accepted by
accredited to the govts administration and
health lines. It has been proved while govt.
advices us to join Transit Point activities and
IPPI cards distribution with strong IPC.
Undoubtedly, this is the great appreciation of
SVOs or NGOs work by govt even this scope
helps organization to be recognized, in their
ventures.
- HIV/AIDS Prevention &
control.
HIV/AIDS has emerged as a
disastrous developmental challenge in West
Bengal. Its rapid growth in recent years alarms
that the state is on the verge of a major
epidemic. AFT has taken up the project of
awareness generation in the community,
especially in vulnerable section, to stop the
motion and eradication of this killer disease.
The project areas intricate 5 blocks targeting
at least the district of Murshidabad. The
activity implies the training of the trainers
and field workers, media campaigning,
sensitization of religious leaders, guardians /
Parents and Political leaders of the area.
Conducting rallies, wall writings distribution
of pamphlets and hand Bills and holding meetings
& Seminars etc. Our measures under this
programme helps people change their attitude in
responding to us. Really this programme is
equated with very sensitive issues which should
be classified ethically and morally. Both the
above programmes are supported by unicef.
- Amanat Charitable clinic.
Poor
People of rural areas can not afford costly
medicine and treatment by Capable medical
practitioners. It was the need of the Locality
that AFT started a charitable clinic at Gulmohar
Park , Garia in Feb,2004 to provide best
possible free medical facilities to the poor of
the locality so far more than 1500 Patients have
been benefited from the Service of medical
experts.
- Ambulance:
We have started to
provide Ambulance running & maintenance
facilities under Govt. Public Private
Partnership scheme for the time being in 3
Districts of West Bengal.
- Reproductive & child Health (RCH-II)
Programme:
Amanat Foundation has been
working on Reproductive & Child Health
project in Uttar Dinajpur district of the state,
West Bengal since May 2006. This programme
is designed with both mobilization and
immunization programme. Immunization of pregnant
mothers and children is in the focus of the
programme. Besides, peoples motivation, for
prevention and promotive measures along with
drop-out cases tracking are one of the main
objectives, of this programme. We
have started this programme within a very small
circle covering only two sub-centres. Where each
sub-centre is endowed with more than its target
population and also treated as underserved
areas. The immunization programme for mothers
and children is going on in the sub-centres 3
days a week and to cover district or dispersed
fringes. the out-reach camps are also launched
once a month to reach out target groups. Through
this programme we have built up partnership with
govts health line which helps us serve the
mobilize children best.
- Education Activities.
AFT has given equally importance to the
educational programmes both on primary &
higher levels. These can be highlighted herein
below beside other welfare imperatives.
- School Cholo Avijan.
AFT aimed at
Primary education programme basically to ensure
schooling for all children. In our project areas
this level of education witnesses an worse
condition since number drop-out and
out-of-school cases are erecting a fabulous
figure. To create the motion of this trend we
are creating awareness waves through various
campaigns. In our move we have got District
Primary Education Cell (Sarva Siksha Mission) as
our partner. Our joint hand efforts have given a
push to even village to sensitize parents for
straining their children into education.
- Amanat Remedial Coaching
Centre.
For weak and dropout students,
remedial coaching has been arranged to enable
them to compete with other students in normal
course and take admission in higher classes.
Under the supervision of competent teachers this
class of students has developed their studies a
lot for obtaining good results. At present we
are running in 8 Blocks of Murshidabad and Uttar
Dinajpur.
- Access Micro Scholarship.
Most of
our school/college students specially Madrasah
students are very poor in English due to which
they are lagging behind in education and other
field of life. Neither are table to proceed for
higher education nor they can compete for
getting high posts in India or abroad. AFT
has started a project with the sponsorship of U
S govt. to enrich these students in English
language. 150 students have been admitted to
going spoken. English course in Ramkrisna
Mission Institute of culture Kolkata under this
scheme. Once in a month these students are
counseled to assess the development of their
study regularly.
- Amanat Shishu Academy.
On Sundays
and other free times most of the children waste
their time in useless practices and
entertainments. AFT has provided a chance to
make use of this spare time. On each Sunday
classes are held to teach them Islamic beliefs
and how those can be practiced and developments
of their hobbies and extra curriculum activities
like drawings. At present 33 students are
enrolled at the Academy in few Blocks. In the
near future we shall set up the same in all the
Blocks of the State.
- Amanat Library. All the students
willing to study cannot afford the desired books
of their courses
As a result of which even
some meritorious and intelligent Students are
unable to show their skill due to lack of
required books on the topic AFT has established
a library to fill up such gap and provide the
required books for poor Students of all ages as
well as to promote reading habit of general
people, A large number of deserving students are
benefited by recycling of the available books
required for their studies.
- Disaster Relief Activities.
- Flood Tornado & Tsunami Reliefs.
Sometimes man has to surrender himself to
the natural calamities. Man is helpless to
floods, earth quake, tsunami, tornado and other
devastating calamities. In
Sept 2005 the districts both of North 7 South 24
Parganas faced such type of catastrophe. Flood
was washed away five blocks of these districts.
The resources both human and materials have been
damaged severally. AFT took oath to stand by
the victims who had almost lost their everything
with its best efforts. Our volunteers visited
almost all affected villages and provide food to
the victims, baby food for infants &
children and health camps with required
medicines for the patients. Were also launched
as instant relief work Earthier organization
also experienced the relief work while Tsunami
hit coastal zone of our country in Dec07. AFT
drove into the relief work very promptly with
its network and resources. Thought initially the
resources was limited, its intention and almost
appeal helped it gain potentiality. In this case
a humanitarian organization, IHH Germany had
strengthened its hands. Apart from this AFT
helped the Tornado & Tsunami hit victims by
all means with the assistance of IHH-Germany in
2004 & 2005.
- Economic Related Activities.
- Micro Finance Program through SHG.
AFT has prioritized this programme from the
very beginning. It was our plan to combat
extreme penury and to give support to our target
group as they can come out from drudgery and
despairs. It is a unique process in which plan
for development takes place at grass root level
and also shared with those people whose
participation in planning and its implementation
is highly needed. This is the system where
people sit together discuss together, move
together and take decision together. Naturally
when they raise their voice together for their
own development that is justified. It is sure
that all SHGs have some characteristics which
all members practice for its cohesion. These
help SHGs to be disciplined and most
homogeneous. Weekly meeting-discussion on
group lending problem analysis, involvement in
social development, takes place for every group.
But beyond that the SHGs have been able to
identify themselves as most promising
stakeholder of other programme implementation
like mother and child immunization. Child
education, sanitation child and mothers
nutrition programme, campaigns against HIV/AIDS,
malaria etc. These are their other social
aspects through which they are motivating areas
people. Though we had our SHG promotion
activities started in Aug 2004 experimentally
in the limited areas of Murshidabad and North 24
Parganas we extended this network to more
districts like this year up to South 24 Parganas
and Birbhum and Malda. Presently we are running
405 SHGs comprising of 4860 members. Their total
saving is accrued Rs. 52,3000 and lending has
crossed Rs. 8,16,000. This scheme has
promoted saving habit in rural people and also
offered finance to the borrowers of the areas to
enable them to be self sufficient. In the
meantime this programme has started to gain its
potentiality and recognition from financing
institute.
- Entrepreneurship Development Program.
Entrepreneurship is a boom to the Industry,
if a businessman is well equipped with the art,
skill and methodology of controlling his
activities he can yield the optimum result out
of his efforts. For this purpose, AFT has
popularised its importance and conducted seminar
and training programmes to develop the concept
and technique of entrepreneurship.
- Salesmanship & Marketing
Management.
AFT conducted seminars to
train the educated youths so that they could
earn their livelihood out of this field. Good
salesman and market surveyor is a must in
present day economy. This sector is highly
employment oriented and even low educated people
can get scope of carvings the industry through
their salesmanship skill. In the near future AFT
shall organize effective workshops to promote
such training.
- Social & Charitable Activities.
AFT works for the welfare of the minorities
and depressed people in West Bengal. It has
given equal emphasis on social and charitable
aspects of life. These activities can be
summarised as follows:
- Amanat Study Circle.
On 2nd
Saturday of each month a regular program is
organised on current social issues and problems
before the people. Seminars and debates are held
on burning topics with the scholars and experts.
People come to know the issues/problems and how
these can be solved and put to social welfare of
the people.
- Amanat Zakat Fund.
Generally
33.67% of total population of our country as
well as of our state are constituted with below
poverty level (BPL) families and this ratio is
proportionately higher for other basic needs
like health, education are severely staggered
and it is true this condition leads this section
to frustration and keep them away from main
stream of life. In this varying problems
Zakat Fund plays a pivotal role to show the
glimpse of hope to the poor. Criteria to
regulate fund is properly maintained. Education,
health and other social imperatives are met up
by this fund. Despite having constraint as
innumerable appeals reach us every year we are
trying to make its level high to comply more and
more appeals. Some one is getting assistance
for his/her child care education some one for
his/her daughters marriage some one for
sustaining occupation, various measures taken up
from this fund.
- Discover Yourself Program.
AFT
conducted a training program for its staff
members and functionaries to enhance their
capacity building and managerial skill.
Participatory learning and action, group
discussion and presentation open house
discussion to opinion taking tools using all had
been incanted this programme. The programme
became move interesting to participants and
resulted well. The objective of the
Discover Yourself was to enrich the level of
capacity of administrative hierarchy and to
focus the assessment of organizational strength.
It had been learnt by every participant to
assess himself or herself to be a competent to
bear with the work load, and how to share it.
- Advocacy Committees.
AFT has
constituted an Advocacy Committee on State,
District and Block level to seek the advices
from scholars and concerned persons on the
problems and issues facing to the local
inhabitants of the areas. people are made aware
of the issues and after in depth discussions the
issues can be placed before the Advocacy
Committee for proper action.
- Annual Sports.
Social and
cultural aspect of life is also important to let
the people come closer. AFT gave this chance by
arranging Annual Sports for school children,
staff and local people. Different events took
place and First, Second and third in each event
has been awarded with prizes.
- Affiliation of Various local
organisations.
So far more than 350
local Clubs, Societies and organisations have
been affiliated to AFT, which has in creased our
strength manifold. These affiliates are meant to
co-operate in all our activities whenever and
wherever it is required specially in case of
emergencies.
